IRCTC stands for Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation, and deals with catering, online booking and tourism. IRCTC pioneered the online booking of railway tickets in India. This has made ticket booking easy and simple for the passengers. There is no need to stand in long queues in front of the booking counters to book your ticket. Instead, you can sit comfortably at home and book your ticket by making the payment online through your credit or debit card. IRCTC Login Tatkal is the option to book tickets in trains in case of an emergency.
The counters for Tatkal booking open at 10 am on the day prior to the date of the journey. Usually there is a separate counter at the railway station for Tatkal booking. If no separate counter is present, then only Tatkal tickets are sold from 10 am to 12 noon and normal tickets are sold at other times.
You can book for a maximum of 4 persons under a single PNR number. If there are more people, you will need two reservation slips.
Other than the websites of Indian Railways and IRCTC, IRCTC Login Tatkal is possible on other travel and tourism websites too. You get e-tickets when you book Tatkal tickets online. As it is done one day prior to the journey, no i-tickets are available when you make Tatkal booking. However, if the booking is done online, it should be done quickly, so that you get a chance to book a confirmed ticket before the tickets get sold out.
